Delete Your NameSake Account

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This page explains how to delete your NameSake account and the data associated with it. NameSake is published by Wall Noodles LLC. For the full picture of what we do and don't hold, see the NameSake App Privacy Policy.

First, the important distinction

NameSake keeps your people, photos, and notes on your device — not on our servers. That means there are two separate things you might want to delete, and they are deleted in two different places.

1. Your data in the app (on your device)

The people you've added, their photos, your notes, groups, families, connections, quiz history, and your own card all live in a database on your phone. We cannot see this data and we cannot delete it for you — you control it directly:

This works whether or not you ever created an account.

2. Your account (on our servers)

An account is optional in NameSake. If you created one, the record we hold consists of your email address, the display name you chose, a cryptographic hash of your password, and the date the account was created. That is the entire record — it does not include your people, photos, or notes.

In the app (fastest)

Open Settings, scroll to the Account section, and choose Delete account. You'll be asked to type your email address to confirm, and the deletion happens immediately — there's nothing to wait for and no one to email.

You'll need to be signed in. If you can't sign in, use the email route below.

By email

Email morgan@wallnoodles.com from the email address on the account, with "NameSake account deletion request" as the subject. Sending from the account address is how we confirm the request is really yours; if you no longer have access to that address, say so and we'll find another way to verify you.

You don't need to give a reason.

What happens then

Deletion is permanent. We do not keep a backup copy of your account record after deleting it, so it cannot be restored — you would need to register again.

If you shared a person or family with someone

Shares in NameSake are snapshots, not live links: when you share a person or family, the recipient gets their own copy to keep and edit. Deleting your account or your app data has no effect on copies other people already hold, and we have no way to reach them — those transfers never pass through our servers.
